This sheep thing runs in the family and we’ve been at it for a long time.

The Farmer takes a wife…

In 1993 Chris married Rowan and gave her the gift of a North Country Cheviot ewe. Ted and Rebecca Skinner gifted the young couple with another ewe and the rest is history.

Chris’s grandfather first went into sheep farming in the 1930’s. During the depression a farmer who owed money for coal to his grandfather offered to settle the debt by exchanging sheep for coal. Once sheep arrived this Scottish gentleman saw the value of having a few sheep around and soon imported sheep to Canada from Scotland where he was originally from.

As his grandchildren aged and showed interest in 4H and sheep the flock soon expanded to include Chris purchasing Suffolk’s, and his brother Brian purchasing Liecester’s. Over the years other breeds where added and subtracted, included commercial cross ewes.

Today Chris’ kids are activily involved in the sheep industry raising and promoting sheep. Enjoying quality tasting lamb, while at the same time trying to create the perfect sheep.
