The Grass is Always Greener

These things always happen when the Shepherd is off the farm.

The Shepherd is an optimist, and it was a really dry summer. Beyond the fence is the pasture and in front of the fence is my backyard lawn- and flower bed. There is mesh between the rails, although you can’t see it in this photograph.

Leave it to a North Country Cheviot to find a way to find out for herself if the grass truly is greener on the other side of the fence. Not only that, but our flower garden became an amazing salad bar of deliciousness. The Shepherd made restitution by taking his wife to Bradford Greenhouses to replenish the damaged plants, and Mother-in-Law donated perennials from her garden as well.

Now, the Keeper of Hens (who doesn’t like the moniker, “Chicken Lady”) has much better flowers in her garden and all is well. Whose “grass” is greener now?

(And whose fence has been improved since the incident, as well?)
